New letter sent from Jesse May 25

hey mom and dad!!!
So i am in a new area now! yay! it is soo pretty! I am in a little town called Bacon just about 15 minutes out side of Sorsogon! My area is really big too so it has been fun to go see it! also i have the ocean in my area and are little meeting house is pretty close to the beach! it is also cool cause sorsogon city is really close and it has a really nice grocery store so i can buy food that gets along with my stomach! I also got a new comp. his name is Elder Badilla, he is really nice but doesn't know really how to speak english! hi mom is a school teacher and spoke english to him before so he can understand alot of english if i have trouble saying it in tagalog! also they speak another language here different from my first area! ha ha it is confusing! They are both called bicol but they are way different! it is funny you would think that since it is one country they would all speak the same language ha ha! most people know tagalog so we can still talk but some of the older people and kids only know bicol! Well Dad here is the bad part about my area ha ha! there are alot of places i cant go because they hate americans ha ha! they think all americans are spies ha ha it is funny! but there are a couple americans who live here so it cant be that bad! don't worry about that though! the people here are sooo sooo nice! here is a crazy story for ya! my new apartment is right next to the highway and we were i was sitting there doing language study. well i heard this loud bang outside so me and my comp run outside and there was a motorcycle wreck! the guy and his friend were driving down the road and their tire went flat! the went out of control and hit a hand rail infront of are house and they both flew off, this is literally right infront of our house! so one guy flew off and landed under a parked truck like 5 feet away and was pretty scrapped up but the other guy flew like 10 feet and landed in a ditch full of water and was pretty messed up! oh and they broke our hand rail! ha ha i felt bad for them but after i new they were ok i just started laughing! it was great! well i miss you all and love you soo soo much!

Ruger and Jesse

So since I always post letters "from ruger" to Jesse, I thought I would post a picture of Jesse and Ruger!!

From Ruger to Jesse

Hi Jesse, Ya know how everyone says, "Oh, To have the life of a dog must be nice". Well It's not all that it's cracked up to be! I've had quit a stressful week. Grandma brushes me every other day and you should see the hair that I am shedding. It'll fill up a plastic grocery sack. I'm a little worried, I over heard Grandma talking to someone about going bald. She said that if you're related to someone that's bald you have a good chance of going bald. Yikes! All I have been imagining all week long is Grandpa Nugent and Steve. I've seen those hairless cats on the internet when Grandma is looking up weird stuff on "youtube" and they're not a pretty site. Do you think I need to worry? See picture of first attachment! Next thing that happened that was traumatic this week was I thought we had been bombed. Last night Grandpa says, Ruger we've just been bombed. He opens the bedroom doors and turns the fan on to air out the bedroom. He was threatening to get the gas masks and I started to get worried until I realized that Grandma was still asleep and figured out it must of been a disaster fire drill. Boy I thought Grandpa was really acting the part till I heard him mumble to Grandma while she was sleeping that he wasn't going to be around for eternity if she didn't fix her problem and quit eating beans. The next morning he was really razing her and he made her promise that she wouldn't eat beans anymore. The funny thing is I couldn't smell it but you know where my nose has been. She hesitated but finally agreed. As soon as Grandpa left for work a few hours later she was sneaking and eating beans. I think she has a problem. You know if you're sneaking around to do something, you shouldn't be doing it. Do you think she's addicted to beans and can't help it? I remember hearing about a pill called Bean-O. Do you think they're for people that are addicted to Beans and would help stop the cravings? She has to be addicted because Grandpa was threatening to make her sleep in the other room if it happens again. That would be devastating because I know how I love sleeping in their bedroom. You probably remember how I love soft balls, well I had gone through all the balls Grandma had, so she went to the store to buy some more. She bought these great soft balls that were made to be played with in a pool. Grandma and Grandpa would through the ball, I would find it dunk it in my water bowl then bring it back to them to throw again, sometimes dropping it in their lap. Sometimes your parents don't give me enough credit, I knew it was a water ball and that's how you were suppose to play with it. If they didn't want me to bring them a sopping wet ball, why did Grandma buy pool balls? Have you ever noticed their actions don't go along with what comes out of their mouth. I hope that disease dementia isn't setting in early. I hope that they don't get it until you get back and I'm out of here. What are the missionary rules, If they get it early, is that considered a Family Crisis and you can come home early to get me out of here? If it gets to bad, I'll sneak one of Grandpa's white handkerchiefs in a box of goodies that Grandma mails to you. I saw that idea on one of the movies Grandma was watching when this guy couldn't handle it anymore and he surrendered by holding up a white rag. Miss you and love you lots. Thank goodness I am staying with Grandma and Grandpa their life would be so quiet, boring and uneventful. Also who would Grandpa have to gripe about Grandma to!

Cause it is to hot to wear pants here!!! Also I will send ya’ll your package this week sometime! Cause it costs a lot to send stuff! But I need to go to naga and pull out money from my personal card! We don’t have a bank in are area that deals with the U.S.! and were are not supposed to go out off are area! So yeah! Well I love you all and hope all is well! Keep up reading and praying! I know the church is true and the book of mormon too! There is this old man who we started to teach and the first time he saw us he tried to run away! But we got him to listen! Now here loves the book of mormon and wants to share it with everybody! He knows it is true and it is so cool to see how much he has changed!I love this work! Even though it is tough! The language is coming really good, so thank you for all of your prayers! Love you soo soo much!

Letter from Ruger (Jesse's dog) to Jesse typed by Grandma Jana

Hi Older or What ever it is they call you!

Grandma attached some pictures of me and Grandpa. Tomorrow is Easter and it snowed this morning. I love it when it snows because Grandpa gets the fireplaces so bellowing hot inside, I just know I'm going to melt down one of these days like Frosty the Snowman, that I always run around in the snow to get cooled off. In the pictures you'll see how I love to roll around in the snow and use my nose like a snow plow. Then the other pictures are with me and Grandpa gathering wood for the fireplace. I go out with him and help him find the perfect stick. He never finds the right one though so I search around and find it and end up pulling it out of the wood pile and chewing on it. You know how I love sticks, there are so many at the Cabin to chose from, I think I'm in Heaven! Grandma and Grandpa think I'm crazy most of the time, they say I act like a weird-do! I always stay real close to Grandpa to help him stay out of trouble I need a listening ear, You know when I told you in my other letter of my Colonitis attack, well it happened again. They left out on the porch this great onion dip and I found it the next morning. Boy it was good I almost licked the bowl clean but it was to rich to finish the whole thing. Well dogs memories you know aren't very long, I wish I would of remembered about the last attack when I ate something to rich I would of thought twice before I devoured it. All I was thinking of was that my breath would be bad from the onions but that isn't a problem Grandpa won't let me get around girl dogs anyway, he says I embarrass him! Well I dad one of those instant urges and I couldn't get anyone's attention so the Loft came in handy once more. Grandpa I swear use to be a hound dog in his previous life because instantly he smelled it. He sniffs around like his hound dogs looking for a Mountain Lion track (He really missed his calling in this life). Grandpa instantly accused me and I gave him that look like you use to give him, who me? I tried to tell him it was that guy that Grandma always talks about, the one that steals just one sock while she's doing laundry and tries to make her think she's going crazy! Well if you haven't figured it out by now, just for your FYI when you get back, he's to smart for that. He rubbed my nose in it and called me my nickname SOB and had to go outside for 30 minutes. That's my time-out spot. Dude it was awful I couldn't smell anything but that poop for days!! I wish you were hear, I could of blamed it on you because I remember Grandma telling you that you had so much crap on the floor it looked like a pig pen in your bedroom. Since you had crapped on the floor before they would of totally believed it was you!! HURRY HOME!! I NEED AN ALIBI! They are going to feel really bad in about 20 years when they start having Colonitis attacks. Like the stories of Grandma Johnson when she had to drop her pants no matter if she was in a parking lot or not. I'm just going to sit back when that happens and give them that look like, see sometimes you just can't help it and have to drop and dump anywhere! Boy when that day comes it will be so sweet! Today is the 11th of April and Grandma is acting weird. She's going around giving Grandpa big hugs and all excited like she won the lottery. I over heard them talk about today was their wedding anniversary of 34 years. Dang that's along time! I guess Grandma got married when she was 6 years old because she always trying to convince everyone that she is only 40 years old. Well write to you again soon, did you check out the girl dogs there in Naga? Are they pretty fine, I heard that beach dogs are knock outs like Lady in the movie Lady and the Tramp. Love Ruger, BFF's Forever

March 31, 2009- New Letter from Jesse

Hey ya’ll
Yeah we are pretty close to an active volcanoe, I guess that you cant hike up to the top of it because the steam is too hott, and it also is huge and would take four days to get to the top says my comp! I miss you all a lot also, i want to talk to you all the time but I know this is going to be good for all of us!! I love being here on the mission!! I was sick for a while but I’m good now!!! Ha ha I got my blood taken the other today to see if I had high blood sugar or low blood sugar, and after I did I went to the palenke aka store across the street to buy some juice cause I was really weak and I totally passed out in line they were so scared ha ha!!! But im good now the results said that I have low blood sugar so I have to eat a lot of fruits and stuff which is totally ok w/ me! They also said candy but you know me, that ain’t going to fly!!!> The baptism was awesome! Im soo happy for here! It was funny cause they said I could do it in English, because everything here they try to do in English if it has to do with church stuff and is sometimes harder to understand than the tagalong and bicol! But I did it in Tagalog and totally said something wrong and had to dunk here twice! Ha ha it was so funny and the water was sobra malamig aka extra cold! It was really good though she was really scared!
I love all ya’ll and thank ya’ll for the support

Letter from Ruger (Jesse's dog typed by my mom) to Jesse

March 21st, 2009

Hi Pal,

I over heard Grandma reading your letter out loud and she says Elder Jesse Johnson. I'm a little concerned, did you catch a rapid aging disease in the Philippines? You aren't going to come back old and out of energy like Grandma and Grandpa, are you? I was about 3 1/2 years old when you left and you'll be gone for 2 years, which in dog years that's 14 years. So I figure I'll be 17 1/2 years old when you get back, I'm counting on us having a lot of fun. I hope you're feeling better, I know how it feels. About four days after I got to the cabin for the first time, Grandma & Grandpa feed me some Pig Ears. I slept in the Laundry room with the door shut so I wouldn't be tempted to get into things during the night. Well that night my stomach was churning and by the time Grandpa came to let me out I was ready to explode. He opened the door and I bee lined right passed him as he slowly walked to the arcadia door and opened it I was running so fast that I couldn't stop. I ended up in the loft and I thought a bomb went off. It was more like a stink bomb! Now Grandma and Grandpa ask each other if I've gotten my treat for the day so I won't get sick. You should of seen the look on Grandpa's face and that's the first time he called me a dumb S.O.B. It only took once for me to realize I don't want to push Grandpa into that "Red Zone". That was several weeks ago and It wasn't long till I was back on Grandpa's good side. It takes a lot more to get on Grandma's bad side! You said that you thought you were allergic to the rice, you should try fresh cut Cow Horns, I'm sure they have them there. Grandpa's doing Round-up all week and the day they had Mountain Oysters I didn't get to go, rats I heard they are great fresh. The next day Grandma went to the Ranch to help and took me. That's when I found my food weakness, Once you gnaw on one horn you can't stop. Grandpa's friend Ben DeHaan stayed at our Cabin all week helping Grandpa with Round-up. Ben's been really likes me. The day I went to the Ranch to help, Ben didn't have a very good day. He got his nose smashed by a Heifer's head that was in the shoot, his hand got smashed and a horned Heifer tried to gore him. Grandpa asked Ben what in the heck happened and Ben said he couldn't get out of the way enough against the fence because his big belly was in the way. Grandpa's not very sympathetic when Ben gets hurt, he's always laughing at him. You should of seen Ben's shirt it was almost as bloody as by chest when I got in that fight. Ben just says Ha-Ha then later has something smart to say back to Grandpa. They bicker back and forth like to old Hens, then at night laugh about the day. Ooh, I'm back to normal after that dog fight. I've been working on this Macho image around Springerville and I think it's working. I haven't seen any dogs coming into the yard. It didn't take very long, these dogs up here are quite the push over's. I think their more Bark than anything. I'll write next week and let you know what mischief I got in to

From Ruger (Jesse's dog) to Jesse 3/14/2009

Hi, I miss my partner, Grandma and Grandpa are fun but they don't have as much energy as me and you. But Grandma cooks really good and gives me a lot of kisses. Grandma still can't run as far as I can but she's trying. Grandpa put a chain fence around all the property in Springerville, well I got out some how, you know me and Grandma came looking for me. Finally she found me strolling back in by the front yard and I was all bloody. Did you ever notice that she gets real excited when someone she loves gets hurt. Well any way, she brought me inside and gave me a shower to see were I was bleeding from. I had got in a fight with another dog. When Grandma saw me my whole chest was bloody and my leg and mouth. I couldn't ell her that I wasn't as bad as I looked because she doesn't understand my language. When my warm shower was done and she dried me off, she found out that I just barely had a puncture wound on my leg and lip. She was sure glad to know all that blood wasn't from me and finally quit crying. I packing my leg a little but that's all. Grandma gave me the best Steak Bone you ever saw and I've been getting even more kisses if you can imagine that. Grandpa after realizing that I was okay, was sure proud of me for protecting my territory and said "Way to go Ruger, you go and teach those dogs whose in town now"! Grandpa also scolded me though and said, "See that's why I tell you to stay inside our fence". I think it was worth it because of all the attention I got, the bath, kisses and the huge Steak Bone from Grandpa's ranch grown beef. Did you ever do anything when you were my age (A teenager) and get in trouble but thought it was worth it? I promised Grandma I'd be good from now on, I hate to see her sad. I promise I be a good dog while your gone. When you get back you can tell me all of your adventures and I'll tell you mine, some of them I'm sure GRandma and Grandpa won't know about!I'll write again soon, Take care Dud. I think Grandpa and I are going to the ranch tomorrow, I love to chase Deer. You have fun too and promise me you'll be safe too! Can't wait for you to get home so we can go to the Lake and have a Bon-Fire.

Love your Partner

Elder Johnson arrived in the Naga Mission yesterday and has already been assigned to his first area and his trainer. He looks great. His luggage was delayed a day and we expect to take it to him later this morning and check how he is doing. He will be a fantastic missionary. He will write more on his first Preparation Day.

MTC pictures and letter from mom

12/27/2008

I wasn't going to send the picture with me in it but I thought it really showed what a long week and day it was. Make up at that point of time could only do so much. For you that don't know my favorite Uncle died the same week and we were doing funeral preparations also! But I have to say it was one of the most fulfilling weeks emotionally, spiritually and filling alot of voids that I was able to take care of being with my Uncle when he died and then taking Jesse and handing him back over to Heavenly Father! The best picture is the last one with his missionary name tag, "Elder Johnson". It was so weird Wednesday morning before we took him to the MTC we went to IHOP and someone came us to us and said "Hi Elder where are you going?" That's when it hit me, I was just doing everything that needed to be done on my list and when they called him Elder all of a sudden my little boy wasn't there any more he was a young man. I realized that I could no longer fulfill his needs and make everything all better, that was Heavenly Fathers job now! For a mom that tried so hard to make everything all better it was hard but healthy and at some point needed to be passed on, just as with my girls passing it on to their husbands. Life is wonderful and we just need to realize that our roles in life always change and recogonize what that next fulfilling role is and move on with all the dedication that we had before!!

Blog for Jesse

I decided to start a blog for Jesse while he is on his mission! I will put all the pictures I get from him, and updates so everyone who loves and misses him will be able to see them! Also I thought that I would just post the email address and password up here so anyone who has pictures, videos, or updates can also put them up here! Or if you just want to put pictures of yourself, vidoes and things that maybe Jesse would like to see! I'm not sure yet if he will be allowed to look at this or not but he can when he gets home to see how much we missed him while he was gone! I can also print it out and send it to him! So be creative... maybe blow up a picture of him as a lifesize poster and take it every where you go and take pictures and put them on here!! haha! Okay thats a little much, but I saw someone who did that with Oprah (and Jesse is way cooler than Oprah)!! But feel free to upload whatever you want or just make posts saying how much you love and miss him!! Just whatever! I think he'll like it, and it will give us an outlet for when we are missing him!! If you are a little slow and cant figure out how to use blogspot then here are directions, and if you still can't figure it out then Jesse probably doesn't like you anyways!! haha! JUST KIDDING! Call me and I'll help you, and try not to make fun of you!! 480-276-0866! Thanks so much guys! I think this will be cool!

step 2- sign in the username(email) is ashlianderson2006@yahoo.com (I dont know his email address so I used mine) and the password is elderjohnson
